About
Joseph Centrich is a managing member of Hopkins Centrich, whose practice sits at the intersection of business law and complex litigation — a combination that gives clients something most firms cannot offer: an attorney who can structure their business correctly from the start and fight effectively for them when something goes wrong.
Joe's background is distinctly dual-tracked. He studied finance at the University of Texas at Austin's competitive Business Honors Program before attending UT Law, where he was a member of the Review of Litigation. That combination — finance literacy plus litigation training — shapes how he approaches every client engagement. He understands balance sheets, not just pleadings. He thinks about commercial outcomes, not just legal theories. It is why clients describe him as someone who is always thinking steps ahead.
His litigation practice focuses on complex business disputes in both state and federal courts. He has represented companies in construction, professional services, healthcare, online publishing, and internet services in disputes ranging from contract disagreements and shareholder conflicts to First Amendment claims and class action defense. His representative matters include the defense of a national publishing company against class action claims exceeding $7 billion across four states — a case in which his team obtained summary judgment in four jurisdictions and settled the remaining case for under $10,000. He has also represented an international investment group in a shareholder dispute that resulted in a multimillion-dollar award in the client's favor, and has successfully pursued and defended dozens of breach of contract claims with outcomes ranging from $50,000 to over $1 million.
Beyond litigation, Joe advises medium-sized companies on the full range of corporate and transactional matters — entity selection, business succession planning, employment matters, corporate acquisitions and divestitures, and corporate governance. He has served as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at St. Edward's School of Management and Business, which reflects a genuine interest in how businesses work, not just how legal disputes about them are resolved.
Joe is a board member of the Woodlands Bar Association and is active in the professional and business community of The Woodlands and greater Houston.
